On Sunday, we have celebrated the second Advent, and instead of burning a candle you see here increasing number of bush fires. We have also planned a Christmas party. Everyone should bring something to eat, we take care of the drinks. I have to restrain myself from time to really just accept that I do not understand everything. And many do not understand even after my year here will. Some of you have noticed it states that on 1 World AIDS Day was December. Here again a big topic. There are many activities in schools, health centers, etc. Lectures, free AIDS tests and condoms, radio broadcasts. Julia and I have organized with the help of the technical director of ABCN, a training center for skilled trades, an afternoon for the apprentices. It was about in groups to teach himself a presentation, for example, about the history, transmission, prevention, pathogenesis, symptoms and treatment of HIV / AIDS. Each group has obtained enough information for this material. At the same time, it was important that students bring their own knowledge with. And although I was very skeptical at first, everything went amazingly well. The presentations were well above average (although this type of work are not here), it was discussed, asked questions, in between singing a song about AIDS, when the group was too restless. A real winner and a super great experience for us as organizers. A special highlight was the demonstration of the correct use of a condom. A carpenter apprentice had crafted a wooden penis. The demonstration of a disaster. First they wanted to open the condom with a pair of scissors then with her teeth. I never think of these problems. The group has raged cheered, booed. A funny show, if it were not so serious. I just hope now know all those present on how to do it under any circumstances!
The next big event will be visiting my parents this week. I'm already looking incredibly forward to showing them to last, how and what I live here.
